Keeping our Watersheds Frack-Free

On December 4th, Clean Water Network hosted the third webinar in our fall series, “Keeping our Watersheds Frack-Free”.  Thanks to everyone who joined!
Environment America’s senior attorney John Rumpler explained the dangers fracking poses to our water – from massive pits of contaminated wastewater to methane leaks into drinking water to fracking fluid spills. To arm yourself with the facts about fracking, John suggested checking out some of Environment America’s reports like Fracking by the Numbers and Costs of Fracking.

Karen Feridun of Berks Gas Truth shared the story of fighting fracking in the Delaware River Basin, and how her grassroots organization grew from three activists to 1000 that work to pass local resolutions against fracking, and to get the Delaware River Basin Commission to exercise their authority over pipelines.  In addition to offering to connect with anyone interested in hearing more about her experiences, Karen suggested checking out this useful compilation of the significant body of scientific, medical and journalistic findings demonstrating risks and harms of fracking.
