On Wednesday, May 27th, the US Environmental Protection Agency finalized their Clean Water Rule, restoring critical Clean Water Act protections to over half of the nation’s streams and millions of acres of wetlands.
It’s been a long road to get to where we are; many of us have been working on this issue since 2001, when the Supreme Court’s SWANCC decision first chipped away at the Clean Water Act. But the Obama administration has heard our call for action, and taken a major step towards ensuring that our waterways have the protections they deserve.
Clean Water Network will be presenting Administrator McCarthy with a thank you card to show her that so many local groups all across the country appreciate her leadership and tenacity. Some of your colleagues even took a photo To add your organization’s name to the card, click here. Then forward this email to your coalition partners so they can sign as well.
To take further action, call the White House at 202-456-1111 to thank the President for protecting our waterways and taking the Clean Water Rule to the finish line. Or send an action alert to your members, to tell them the good news and ask them to do the same. You can use this sample.
Congratulations to all who have fought so hard for this, and thank you to everyone who has joined the Clean Water Network in this effort.
